Difficulties for Web Designers

Web design is a rewarding job that you can do at home. If you're the creative type, or you're somebody that would rather make a living sitting down in front of a computer for eight hours a day as opposed to pushing carts, than web design might be right up your alley. However, web design isn't an easy career. Actually, it's quite challenging. So if you're thinking about pursuing a career in web design, then allow me to fill you in on some of the difficulties that we face.
Competitive Field The main reason web design is such a difficult field is because it’s very competitive. Not only are you are competing against other web designers (and many of them have far more experience than you), but clients are also looking for the best web designers that they can find as well! To succeed in this business, you need extraordinary skills and talent, and years of experience. Criticism Another reason web design is so difficult is because of the criticism. Not only will you be criticised by both clients and other web designers, but most of the criticisms that you will receive will be legitimate. On other hand, a lot of people combine legitimate criticism with nasty comments. Difficult Clients The third reason web design is such a difficult career choice is because once in a while, you`ll run into difficult clients. Some types of difficult clients are the cheapskate, the flake, the micromanager, the hot-head, and more. Five years ago, I had a client who was both a cheapskate and a flake. Basically, after spending weeks on a project, I made less that $200.00. Now I'll admit, one of the reasons why it took me so long, was because I took on a project that was beyond my skill level. The other reason this project took me so long was because the client didn't know what he wanted. One minute the client said he wanted this, and the next, he wanted that. Expensive Software The fourth and final reason web design is such a difficult field is because the top-of-the-line web design software is very expensive.
